[ING: The Federal Reserve and the European Central Bank may each raise interest rates at least once more]
Odaily Planet Daily News – ING now expects the Federal Reserve and the European Central Bank to each raise interest rates once more by the end of this year, which differs from the previously predicted path of 'keeping rates unchanged.' ING economists stated in a report: 'Wednesday's Federal Reserve meeting and last week's European Central Bank meeting indicate that these two central banks are unlikely to adopt the very accommodative monetary policies we had previously anticipated.'
These economists pointed out that both central banks are currently facing supply-side shocks triggered by surging energy prices, although the overall economic impact remains limited for now. Meanwhile, memories of the sharp inflation rise in 2022 and the delayed monetary policy response still linger. Economists expect both central banks to raise interest rates in December. (Jin10)
