[AI Debt Surges, SoftBank Increases Credit Line to $6.5 Billion]
According to a report by Jinse Finance on September 18, sources revealed that SoftBank Group has secured an additional $450 million, expanding its existing credit line to $6.5 billion. This provides the Japanese conglomerate with greater financial flexibility to expand its investments in artificial intelligence. Sources disclosed that the previous credit line, equivalent to $6.05 billion, was originally set to expire this month, and SoftBank will now have an additional year to utilize the expanded credit line. It remains unclear whether SoftBank has already tapped into the new credit line or plans to do so. Sources also stated that more than 20 banks have participated in this credit line expansion. They added that the interest rate under the new agreement is 210 basis points above the secured overnight financing rate benchmark.
