[FINRA Arbitration Panel Orders Charles Schwab to Pay $1.3 Million for Failing to Prevent a Cryptocurrency Scam]
According to Barrons, the FINRA arbitration panel has ordered Charles Schwab to pay over $1.3 million to resolve allegations against the company. The allegations claim that the company failed to detect warning signs of a cryptocurrency scam. Plaintiff's attorney Scott Greco revealed that the scammer had convinced an 82-year-old man at the time, claiming he owed a debt due to a 'mistakenly issued' refund, and used this as a pretext to gain access to his computer.
