Built on Google's open-source Data Commons framework, this platform will replace the original UNData portal, supporting natural language search and Model Context Protocol (MCP), enabling AI agents to directly query authoritative statistical data from multiple UN agencies and trace back to the original sources. A total of 26 UN entities have committed to participating, with data from nearly 20 entities available at launch. The goal is to include 80% of the UN system's statistical datasets by 2027.
