[Palantir CEO: AI Companies Should Bear Legal Responsibility for Their Actions]
According to Bloomberg, Palantir CEO Alex Karp stated in an interview with CNBC that companies developing and deploying AI systems should take responsibility for the consequences of their technologies, rather than relying solely on government regulation. In response to Anthropic CEO Dario Amodei's suggestion of embedding third-party safety assessment organizations within AI companies, Karp remarked that such regulatory mechanisms are complex and require the involvement of individuals who truly understand the technology. He also pointed out that most AI experts today are 'on the payroll of some company,' making it difficult to ensure independence. Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang stated that AI companies have a responsibility to ensure the safety of their products, and if safety cannot be guaranteed, they should pause releases and 'make sure to get it right' before launching.
