[FDIC Proposes New Parity Rule for State Banks to Support Digital Asset Businesses]
The U.S. Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation (FDIC) Board of Directors has approved a proposed rule aimed at establishing "parity" treatment between out-of-state state-chartered banks and federal banks in the application of state laws. The rule will clarify which state laws apply to state-chartered banks when operating across state lines, covering innovative financial activities, including digital asset-related businesses. Wyoming U.S. Senator Cynthia Lummis stated that the proposal is expected to inject new momentum into the state-level banking system, including digital assets, and promote "responsible innovation."
