[Haute-Savoie, France: Cryptocurrency Kidnapping Case Solved, Five Suspects Arrested]
Deep Tide TechFlow reports that on September 17, a violent cryptocurrency-related kidnapping occurred in Taninges, Haute-Savoie, France. Late at night on March 14 this year, two masked men broke into the home of a 48-year-old woman, tied her up, and assaulted her for several hours in an attempt to seize her cryptocurrency assets. They then tried to forcibly take her away. The victim, severely injured, managed to escape and sought help from neighbors through sheer survival instinct.
The case was led by the Lyon Interregional Specialized Jurisdiction (JIRS) and investigated by the Chambéry Gendarmerie Search Unit. After six months of in-depth investigation, police launched a coordinated operation in early September across the Paris region, Isère department, and Brittany region, mobilizing over 60 gendarmes. They successfully arrested five suspects in their early twenties. Four of them have been formally charged, and three are being held in custody awaiting trial.
This is the third violent extortion case targeting cryptocurrency holders in the Savoie region within a year.
