[Federal Reserve Median Forecast Predicts One More Rate Hike in 2026, Rates to Remain Unchanged in 2027] Odaily Planet Daily News – On the 17th, the Federal Reserve implemented its first rate hike in three years. Its dot plot median forecast indicates one rate hike this year and rates remaining unchanged in 2027. The new forecast shows that rates will decrease in 2028 and remain between 3.5% and 3.75% in 2029. Previously, the Federal Reserve's June forecast anticipated a 25 basis point rate hike this year and one rate cut in 2027. The Federal Reserve also raised its long-term federal funds rate expectation to 3.2%, compared to 3.1% in June. Among the 19 policymakers, 18 submitted rate outlook forecasts, strongly suggesting that Federal Reserve Chair Walsh, as in June, did not provide specific predictions. The Federal Reserve's forecast also shows that policymakers now expect overall inflation rates to be higher this year and in the coming years. (Jin10)
