[Institution: Fed Rate Hike May Aim to Demonstrate Independence Rather Than Curb Inflation] According to a report by Jinse Finance, on September 17, Henry Song, a fund manager from the fixed income team at asset management company Diamond Hill, stated that the market's expectation of a Federal Reserve rate hike is less about significantly curbing inflation and more about reinforcing the central bank's independence from politics. 'I’m still pondering whether Chair Walsh is willing to confront the President so early in his term,' Song said, adding that he will be watching for signs indicating whether this rate hike is a one-off action or the start of a rate hike cycle. He noted that maintaining rates unchanged could have been justified by macroeconomic indicators, but such a move might be interpreted as Walsh yielding to political pressure. If that were the case, long-term yields would rise.
