Over the next three years, the UK will invest £ 500 million in anti money laundering measures and hire 500 new law enforcement personnel
Odaily Planet Daily News: The UK government has announced that it will invest £ 500 million over the next three years in a new anti money laundering and asset recovery strategy, and recruit 500 new personnel in the police force, National Crime Agency (NCA), and Crown Prosecution Service to investigate and seize criminal funds. The funds come from the economic crime tax levied on regulated enterprises. The UK Home Office stated that NCA estimates that over £ 100 billion of funds are laundered annually through the UK or UK corporate structures, and the development of fintech, cryptocurrency, and AI has increased related risks. The newly added personnel will support the 'Destabilise Action', which targets Russian language networks that exchange street cash for cryptocurrency. As of now, the operation has arrested 119 individuals suspected of money laundering and seized over £ 25 million in cash and cryptocurrency assets within less than a year.
