🚨INSANE: A Polish state energy company paid $230 MILLION in USDT loaded onto USB sticks for Venezuelan oil that was never delivered.
The deal was struck at a yacht party in Abu Dhabi with a Dubai-based trader founded just two and a half years earlier.
Because of US sanctions, $230 MILLION was converted to USDT and loaded onto USB drives that were physically handed over inside hotels and restaurants in Caracas.
Six tankers were sent to collect the oil and sat empty off the coast of Venezuela for months.
Venezuela's state oil company says it never received a cent.
Three former executives have been criminally charged, with total losses reaching $424 MILLION, per FT.
