According to The Wall Street Journal, the AI field has experienced explosive growth over the past year, and this rapid pace seems to have left leading AI developers struggling to keep up in the short term. Now, these companies are calling for a slowdown in research and for stronger regulation and oversight. However, the AI safety crises that have been prominently exposed are unlikely to similarly impact the clients of AI giants like Anthropic and OpenAI. Companies typically deploy models that are already commercialized and whose capabilities are relatively well understood by the market. These models may not represent the absolute cutting edge of AI, but their capabilities are already strong enough to handle the various tasks assigned to them by businesses. Stephen Messer, co-founder of Collective, stated that most companies are not using the most cutting-edge models.
