🚨LATEST: Citadel Securities is pushing back on a regulatory shortcut.
The market maker wants the SEC to oversee financial products tied to public companies and their shares, per The Block.
Under CFTC rules, trading platforms can declare that new products meet the rules and launch them as soon as the next business day, without public comment.
Citadel says platforms should not get to choose their regulator just by changing how they describe a product.
It highlighted yes-or-no bets on company performance, warning that insiders could know the results, or how they will be reported, before everyone else.
Citadel wants these contracts covered by securities rules, faster SEC reviews and clearer rules for other products tied to shares.
The debate could affect how quickly new products launch and how investors are protected.(Coin Bureau)
