Attackers minted approximately 2^62 syBTC to a newly created externally owned account, with a nominal value of about $46.1 billion based on 8 decimal places. They sold approximately 4.39 WBTC on Ethereum's Uniswap V4, cashing out around $336,000. Symbiosis stated that the attack occurred around 4:28 AM on September 11, and the team has since suspended BTC routing. Other routes remain operational and unaffected. The team has recovered approximately 15 Bitcoin and deposited them into a multi-signature wallet controlled by the team. They have also offered the attacker a white-hat bounty of 20% of the funds, with a deadline of September 13. In recent weeks, security incidents involving the minting of unbacked tokens to expand supply have occurred with Liquid Network, Nomic, and Symbiosis.
