According to Golden Finance, on September 13, two independent research institutions in the semiconductor and AI infrastructure research fields officially merged. It is reported that SemiAnalysis has acquired thematic investment research institution Citrini Research. The founders of both organizations, Dylan Patel and James van Geelen, confirmed the transaction on September 11, but the financial terms were not disclosed.
Bloomberg stated that the core of this transaction lies in the complementary nature of the research directions of the two institutions. SemiAnalysis primarily dissects AI infrastructure from the supply chain and technical perspectives, while Citrini focuses on how AI infrastructure spending is reflected in public market investment analysis. In other words, this acquisition combines SemiAnalysis's technical research capabilities in the chip supply chain and AI hardware fields with Citrini's influence in public market investment analysis.
However, after the transaction, the two institutions will not immediately adopt a fully integrated operational model. Van Geelen will temporarily remain as CEO of Citrini Research, and Citrini will maintain a certain degree of operational independence, not immediately merging entirely into SemiAnalysis. In a statement, Van Geelen expressed his optimism about the future of independent investment research.
