[AMC CEO Criticizes Robinhood Again, Questions Stock Token Shareholder Rights and 1:1 Backing Mechanism]
Odaily Planet Daily reports that AMC CEO Adam Aron has once again criticized Robinhood's stock token business in a public statement, raising multiple concerns directed at Robinhood CEO Vlad Tenev and Chief Legal Officer Dan Gallagher. Aron stated that stock tokens violate the fundamental principles of stock ownership and questioned why Robinhood continues to heavily promote stock tokens on its U.S. website despite being unable to offer such products to U.S. users.
Aron also raised concerns about whether stock tokens might mislead buyers into believing they have the same rights as actual shareholders, as well as the 1:1 stock backing mechanism. Specifically, he questioned whether stock tokens could still be considered truly 1:1 backed if the underlying real stocks used to support the tokens are simultaneously lent out to short sellers.
Additionally, Aron criticized Robinhood for conducting related business through a Jersey-based entity, stating that while Robinhood may view stock tokens as an innovation, he sees them as something that "only brings shame to Robinhood."
