[OpenAI CEO Hints at Collaboration with Other AI Companies to Address Safety Risks] OpenAI CEO Sam Altman hinted in an interview with *Fortune* on Friday that OpenAI and other leading AI companies might soon announce a collaboration to slow down AI development and jointly address safety risks. When asked whether he would work with Anthropic's Dario Amodei, SpaceX's Elon Musk, and Google's Demis Hassabis to formulate a safety plan, Altman said, 'I think that will happen,' but declined to disclose private discussions in advance. Previously, Anthropic researcher Jacob Coxon resigned and accused the two companies of 'racing full speed toward self-evolving superintelligence.' Anthropic's co-lead responded by stating that the risk of AI causing human extinction within the next decade exceeds 10%.
