If your assets haven’t grown by 50% since 2020, in some ways, you’ve actually gotten poorer. This chart might be more worth looking at than any candlestick chart. From 2020 to now, the global broad money supply has expanded from about $100 trillion to $150 trillion. In just a few short years: The world’s money supply has increased by roughly 50%. This is why I always say: The real risk isn’t just losing money on investments—it’s doing nothing at all. As global money supply keeps expanding, the scarcity of cash is decreasing. Real estate, stocks, gold, Bitcoin… The long-term rise in asset prices you see is partly because money itself is being diluted. So the real question isn’t: “Has my bank account balance gone down?” It’s: “Is the growth of my assets outpacing the expansion of the money supply?” If the world’s money has increased by 50%, but your wealth has stayed the same— Your numbers haven’t decreased, but your share of global wealth has shrunk. This is one of the core reasons why I hold Bitcoin long-term: When fiat money supply can keep increasing, I’d rather hold an asset with a fixed supply of only 21 million. You don’t have to rely on investing to get richer. But in a world of continuous monetary expansion, you can’t afford to stand still.
