Attackers exploited a mechanism where the ORBToken contract's `receive()` function automatically grants a maximum allowance and triggers an external call to the ORBCore contract's `addPoolAndSell` function(which lacked a reentrancy guard), thereby enabling a cycle of tax-free sell-offs.
