[Meta Initiates Another Round of Restructuring, Some Employees in the AI Department Invited to Return to Management Roles]
According to Business Insider citing sources familiar with the matter, Meta is inviting some employees to resume management positions as the company recently adjusted personnel arrangements in its Applied Artificial Intelligence (AAI) department. AAI was established by Meta this year and is responsible for AI model training, with approximately 7,000 employees transferred into the department. Some of these employees were originally managers but no longer held management roles after the transfer. Whether to switch roles is left to the employees' voluntary choice. This move signifies a partial shift in Meta's previous direction—over the past year, the company has consistently reduced middle management positions, advocating for improved efficiency by downsizing teams and reducing management layers. Mark Zuckerberg has particularly emphasized a lean organizational structure akin to that of startups. This year, Meta implemented large-scale layoffs, cutting about 10% of its workforce, with management positions being a primary focus of the reductions. Meta has also previously made internal adjustments.
