[UniCredit Bank of Italy Considers Expanding Digital Asset Custody and Brokerage Services]
According to Bloomberg, UniCredit Bank of Italy is considering expanding its digital asset services, including building custody and brokerage capabilities. The bank is currently selecting technology providers to establish infrastructure for holding digital assets and facilitating their trading. Discussions are still in the early stages, with considerations including developing tokenized investment products and fixed-income securities, enabling clients to use stablecoins, and providing clients with cryptocurrency exposure.
Previously, the bank has offered structured products linked to BlackRock's IBIT to professional clients, issued Italy's first tokenized mini-bond on a public blockchain, and participated in the formation of Qivalis, a company issuing euro stablecoins. This week, it also acquired a minority stake in Germany's lending marketplace platform VC Trade.
