[IEA: This Year's Global Oil Supply-Demand Gap Will Be Larger Than Previously Expected] Reported by Jinse Finance, on September 11, the International Energy Agency (IEA) stated in its monthly report that this year's global oil supply-demand gap will be larger than previously anticipated. The lack of progress in ending the Iran conflict has delayed the normalization of Middle Eastern oil flows until 2027, leading to a surge in fuel prices. The IEA predicts that global oil demand will decrease by 2.5 million barrels per day by 2026 (previously forecasted to decrease by 1.6 million barrels per day). It also forecasts that global oil supply in 2026 will fall short of demand by 1.74 million barrels per day (previously forecasted to fall short by 1.27 million barrels per day). So far, inventories have played a critical role in balancing the market. With buffers diminishing and the global refining system stretched to its limits, resolving the Middle East conflict and the Russia-Ukraine war, now in its fifth year, is more urgent than ever to prevent further tightening of the market.
