[Southeast Asia Crypto Financing Doubles, Metaplanet Faces Shareholder Opposition]
According to Deep Tide TechFlow news on September 11, citing Cointelegraph reports and data, investment in the Southeast Asian cryptocurrency industry saw significant growth between 2025 and 2026. Tracxn data shows that in 2026, the region completed 25 financing rounds, totaling $680 million, doubling the $319 million recorded in 2025. A clear trend of capital concentration towards leading players emerged, with the number of financing rounds decreasing from 46 in the previous year to 25.
Singapore has solidified its position as Asia's cryptocurrency hub, hosting 2,285 of the region's 3,957 blockchain companies and attracting 82.5% of the region's blockchain equity financing. Meanwhile, Japan-based Bitcoin strategy company Metaplanet faced controversy over its equity incentive plan. Its Series 10 executive director option pool, which includes a proposal to automatically expand to 20% of fully diluted shares, raised shareholder concerns over stock dilution. The plan involves issuing approximately 273 million additional shares, prompting some shareholders to publicly call for the cancellation of the issuance and demand greater transparency.
Although BitCoin Magazine CEO David Bailey defended the incentive measure, stating that the proportion was reasonable, the investor community expressed dissatisfaction.
