[US Media: Trump Allies Consider Possibility of Iran Conflict Extending Beyond His Term]
Golden Finance reported on September 10, citing The Wall Street Journal, that U.S. officials revealed senior White House advisors have privately suggested to Trump the possibility that the Iran war could last until the end of his remaining term. This assertion contradicts Trump's public promise that the war would be swiftly won.
Officials stated that during discussions in the Oval Office and the White House Situation Room, Vice President Vance, Secretary of State Rubio, and others explored a scenario with the President: Tehran might continue to resist under the pressure of blockades and other military measures, potentially prolonging the conflict beyond the presidential inauguration day in January 2029.
These closed-door discussions occurred as Trump told reporters on Wednesday that the war would "immediately" end after the midterm elections in November, claiming that "Iran can't hold out any longer."
