On September 7, the Ethereum Foundation Protocol cluster announced that December 2029 is the non-negotiable deadline for achieving quantum resistance, and subsequent upgrade schedules will be reshaped accordingly.
On average, a hard fork will be required approximately every 7.2 months, which is an aggressive pace. Developers plan to prioritize post-quantum certification and delay mandatory proof enforcement. This adjustment has not yet been approved, and in case of delays, the minimum feasible post-quantum milestone will serve as a fallback.
