[South Korea Exchange to Launch After-Hours Trading on September 14, Expanding to All 2,651 Listed Stocks]
According to South Korean media reports, the Korea Exchange (KRX) will establish an 'after-hours market' from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM starting September 14 in the Korea Composite Stock Price Index (KOSPI) and KOSDAQ markets. The trading scope will be expanded to all 2,651 listed stocks, a significant increase compared to the previous alternative trading platform Nextrade (NXT), which supported a maximum of 800 stocks. This marks the first time South Korea's after-hours market will introduce a market maker (MM) system to enhance trading activity for low-liquidity stocks. To protect investors, the after-hours market will eliminate market orders, allowing only limit orders, best limit orders, and most favorable limit orders, with partial allowance for IOC and FOK conditional orders.
