According to TechCrunch, the U.S. Department of Energy has approved a $1.9 billion loan to restart the decommissioned Duane Arnold nuclear power plant in Iowa, which is expected to resume operations by 2029. At that time, its capacity will increase from 601 MW to 615 MW. Google has planned to build up to six data centers near the plant to utilize its power generation.
