[Alleged $5 Billion Data Center Project by Google and Blackstone Faces Delays] Reported by Jinse Finance, on September 9, sources revealed that Alphabet (GOOG.O), Google's parent company, and Blackstone Group (BX.N) are facing delays in the construction of their AI cloud project, 'Project Braid.' The project, backed by Blackstone's $5 billion investment, aims to lease computing resources equipped with Google's AI chips to customers by 2027. According to insiders, Google had initially planned for AI data center developer Crusoe to handle the construction of a data center located in Cheyenne, Wyoming, USA. However, this arrangement was later canceled, with Google taking over the project and reapplying for the necessary permits. Sources stated that Google lost confidence in Crusoe's ability to deliver the project as planned. Crusoe had previously gained attention for its involvement in the flagship 'Star Gate' data center project in Texas, developed by OpenAI and Oracle. Additionally, another data center site has been impacted due to a shortage of required transformers. Currently, the construction of AI data centers is facing bottlenecks such as shortages in power equipment and delays in approvals. The head of Project Braid stated that the project is still progressing and plans to provide 500 megawatts of computing capacity next year.
