[Ireland Launches Investigation into Musk's Social Platform X]
According to U.S. financial media outlet Semafor, Ireland's media regulatory authority has initiated an investigation into Musk's social platform X, focusing on the effectiveness of its age verification mechanisms and parental control measures. The Irish Media Commission stated that the investigation will assess whether X has effectively implemented age protection measures and whether it provides adequate safeguards for users under the age of 16 in the presence of adult content. Regulators noted that X's parental control features may fall short of minimum requirements, be difficult to locate, or fail to adequately inform new users. If X is found to have violated Ireland's cybersecurity regulations, the regulatory authority could impose a fine of up to €20 million or 10% of the company's relevant annual revenue.
