[Australia Cancels Registration of 45 Cryptocurrency and Remittance Institutions Over the Past Year]
According to Cointelegraph, Australia's financial intelligence agency AUSTRAC has canceled, suspended, or refused to renew the registration of 45 cryptocurrency and remittance institutions over the past year to strengthen scrutiny of high-risk payment businesses. Targeted institutions include inactive entities, insolvent entities, or registrants lacking operational capacity, as well as entities that failed to report significant changes, provided incorrect registration information, or posed significant risks of money laundering and terrorist financing. AUSTRAC specifically mentioned BA Digital Ventures, operating under the name GetCoins, whose virtual asset registration was canceled in June due to customer complaints. The institution is suspected of being exploited by organized cryptocurrency investment scams.
