**[China Plans to Quadruple AI Computing Power by 2030]** Beating AI News Flash: China's Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT) has released the "15th Five-Year Plan for the Development of the Information and Communication Industry," setting the national AI computing power target at 9,800 EFLOPS by 2030. According to the latest data from the National Data Bureau, as of the end of July, the nationwide AI computing scale stood at approximately 2,450 EFLOPS (FP16). Based on this metric, the scale will need to expand by about four times over the next four years. The plan also proposes the orderly deployment of AI computing clusters with capacities of 10,000 cards, 100,000 cards, and beyond, tailored to different scenarios to build inference computing power, while increasing the adaptation of domestic computing chips. Currently, 52 AI computing facilities with capacities exceeding 10,000 cards have been established nationwide. MIIT disclosed that as of the end of June, the scale of AI computing power reached 2,185 EFLOPS, marking a year-on-year growth of 177%. The plan outlines a baseline of 1,590 EFLOPS for 2025, with the goal of reaching 9,800 EFLOPS by 2030—equivalent to an approximately 6.2-fold increase. During the same period, the cumulative investment target for information infrastructure across the entire information and communication industry is set at 3.8 trillion yuan. This amount includes investments in communication networks and other infrastructure, not solely for AI computing power. [Original Link]
