[DeepSeek Plans to Purchase 160,000 Huawei Ascend 950DT Chips for Self-Built AI Computing Center in Inner Mongolia]
According to Bloomberg, DeepSeek intends to deploy at least 160,000 Huawei Ascend 950DT accelerator chips in its newly constructed data center in Inner Mongolia, creating one of the largest known Huawei AI chip clusters in China. Reports indicate that these chips will primarily be used for model inference rather than training, as DeepSeek's core training operations have historically relied on Nvidia chips. Due to shortages of high-end storage and other components, Huawei's production of Ascend 950DT chips this year is expected to be limited to several hundred thousand units, and the delivery cycle for DeepSeek's order may exceed one year. The report highlights that the project's target computing power scale reaches the gigawatt level. DeepSeek is seeking to raise several billion dollars to expand its infrastructure and has requested regulatory authorities to assist in coordinating with Huawei to expedite chip deliveries.
