Peng Jinlong, Chairman of Taiwan's Financial Supervisory Commission (FSC), stated that the 'Virtual Asset Service Act' was legislated on June 30 this year. The FSC is currently drafting 9 supporting sub-laws, including regulations related to stablecoins, which are expected to be officially announced and implemented as early as Q1 2027. Peng Jinlong mentioned that global discussions on virtual assets and stablecoins have shifted from 'whether to develop' to 'how to develop and regulate soundly.' At the meeting, representatives from Taiwan's semiconductor industry also noted that while the AI and semiconductor supply chain operates year-round, traditional cross-border settlements are still constrained by business hours and time zones. Stablecoins, blockchain, and programmable payments are becoming critical infrastructure for cross-border payments and corporate treasury management.
