Ondo Urges SEC and CFTC to Bring US Stock Perpetual Contracts Back Onshore

Deep Tide TechFlow reports that on September 3, according to Cointelegraph, Ondo Finance recently sent an official letter to the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) and the Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC), urging regulators to take action to bring US Stock Perpetual Contracts back to the United States for standardized management. In the submitted proposal, the project team pointed out that a large number of traders are currently forced to participate in such derivative trading on offshore platforms lacking adequate protections, which has led to significant compliance and fund security risks. Ondo suggested that regulators leverage existing legal frameworks such as the Commodity Exchange Act (CEA) to establish a clear pathway for US Stock Perpetual Contracts to be implemented domestically in the form of compliant futures.
As a pioneer in this field, Ondo's recently launched Ondo Perps platform has garnered market attention. The platform provides non-U.S. users with high-leverage trading services based on U.S. stocks and ETFs, achieving over $7 billion in cumulative trading volume within just a few weeks of its launch. Ondo hopes that through this policy lobbying effort, similar high-liquidity products can be made compliant to serve U.S.-based investors in the future.
