[Berkshire CEO: Japanese Bond Yields Currently Pose No Challenge to Trading Companies]
Berkshire Hathaway (BRK.A.N, BRK.B.N) CEO Greg Abel stated that the rise in Japanese bond yields has not impacted the major Japanese trading companies in which the firm holds shares. Abel noted that although Japan's high yields are a focal point in the current market, with the yield on Japan's 10-year government bonds reaching a 30-year high this week, the situation remains manageable for the country's major trading companies. 'No trading company currently views this as a fundamental challenge,' he added. Abel emphasized that Japanese bond yields 'remain relatively moderate in absolute terms' and pointed out that, despite being at multi-decade highs, they are still comparatively low when measured against other global bond yields. Abel also mentioned that despite the higher Japanese bond yields, he expects Berkshire to continue issuing yen-denominated debt for financing when appropriate.
