[Hugging Face Open-Sources $399 Robotic Duck: Can Get Up After Falling and Retrain Itself] Beating AI News Flash: Hugging Face's open-source robotics company, Pollen Robotics, has launched Microduck, a $399 bipedal robot. Standing only 25 cm tall and weighing about 800 grams, it packs 15 motors, cameras, LiDAR, and two IMUs. Straight out of the box, it can walk, sit, grab objects, kick balls, and even get back up after falling. With wheels attached, it can glide as well. Microduck's movements can be retrained independently. Users first train its actions using reinforcement learning in the MuJoCo physics simulator, then upload the trained strategies to the physical robot. The SDK, simulator, and complete reinforcement learning training stack have all been open-sourced, with the software licensed under Apache 2.0. Microduck is now available for pre-order, with the first batch planned for delivery before Christmas 2026. [Original Link]
