Further, the Government has bought the 5,800-acre Cheluget (former Provincial Commissioner) land in Narok South, ending a protracted 30-year land dispute affecting 600 families. Next month, we will conclude this process by issuing title deeds to the families.
For more than three decades, the squatting families lived in constant uncertainty and threat of eviction. Without security of tenure, they could not make long-term investments, fully develop their farms or plan with confidence for the future. Today, that is coming to an end.(William Samoei Ruto, PhD)
