[Fidelity Plans to Add Staking Functionality and Quarterly Cash Distribution to Ethereum ETF] According to Deep Tide TechFlow on August 12, as reported by CoinDesk, Fidelity intends to introduce ETH staking functionality and a quarterly cash distribution mechanism to its spot Ethereum ETF—Fidelity Ethereum Fund (FETH). FETH currently has a net asset value of approximately $898 million, with the potential to stake up to 100% of its held ETH under normal circumstances. As planned, Fidelity will retain 85% of the staking rewards, while the remaining 15% will be allocated to fund sponsors, custodians, and node operators (including Blockdaemon, Figment, and Galaxy). Net staking rewards will be prioritized to cover fund operating expenses, with the remaining portion distributed as cash to investors on a quarterly basis. This move is driven by the U.S. Internal Revenue Service's Safe Harbor Notice issued in November 2025, which allows eligible crypto trusts to engage in staking without losing their grantor trust tax status.
