[South Korea's Supreme Court Orders Samsung Securities to Pay 1.86 Billion Won in Compensation to the National Pension Service]
BlockBeats News, August 12, South Korea's Supreme Court has ruled that Samsung Securities must pay 1.86 billion won to the National Pension Service to compensate for losses caused by a dividend payment error in 2018. In April 2018, Samsung Securities mistakenly issued 1,000 shares of stock as dividends instead of 1,000 won in cash to each employee; subsequent employee sell-offs led to an intraday stock price drop of 11.7%. The National Pension Service had sought 2.99 billion won in compensation, but a lower court ordered Samsung Securities to pay 1.86 billion won. On Wednesday, the Supreme Court upheld this ruling.
