More accurate reporting spotted! First the caveats, @Britannica still has factual errors on its site, including "more transactions boost the required computing power" 🤦‍♂️ It still has many web entries on Bitcoin mining that have been debunked in peer reviewed studies ("POS is more environmentally friendly") rather than science (no mention of the 31 papers showing Bitcoin has substantial environmental benefits) But this week, 16 months late but better than never, Britannica acknowledged that Bitcoin is 52.4% clean-energy powered and also acknowleged "Bitcoin mining has been linked to projects that capture methane or provide demand that supports renewable energy grids" Welcome to 2026 Britannica.(Daniel Batten)
