[Five Men in London Convicted for Imprisoning French Crypto Millionaires and Extortion] Deep Tide TechFlow reports that on August 4, according to Decrypt, the Inner London Crown Court recently ruled on a violent kidnapping case targeting cryptocurrency holders. Five men were found guilty of illegally detaining two French cryptocurrency millionaires. Among them, Gerson Borges and Mohamed Osman were also convicted of conspiracy to commit extortion. It is reported that the two victims (both French men in their 20s) were ambushed in Shadwell, London, last July and taken to an apartment in Canning Town, East London, where they were held for 52 hours. During their captivity, they were subjected to torture, including being stripped, tied up, beaten, and scalded with hot water. The criminal gang demanded a $150,000 ransom, and the victims were ultimately forced to transfer $30,000. Prosecutors pointed out that the victims' high-profile lifestyle displayed on social media may have attracted the attention of the criminal gang. Notably, the case resulted in convictions despite neither victim testifying in court, which police described as a "rare case.
