[IBM Expects Quantum Computing to Contribute Revenue by 2028-2029, Long-Term Scale Reaching Trillions of Dollars] According to CoinDesk, IBM CEO Arvind Krishna stated that quantum computing is expected to begin generating significant revenue and profit for IBM by 2028 or 2029, and he predicts that by the late 2030s, the technology could unlock approximately trillions of dollars in value. IBM, along with companies like Alphabet, IonQ, and Rigetti Computing, is accelerating the development of quantum hardware and software, aiming to address problems in areas such as material simulation, supply chain optimization, and the development of new materials and drugs—challenges that traditional computers struggle to handle. IBM has already used quantum computing to explore the properties of new materials and is collaborating with the U.S. Department of Commerce's CHIPS program to build an independent quantum chip foundry, with a total investment of approximately $2 billion.
