Today, the Fed didn’t make any rate adjustments, which was expected, so there’s not much to say. Waller emphasized that the Fed shouldn’t surprise the market, which is basically the point here. Compared to Powell, Waller is much more cautious, offering almost no forward guidance. This is exactly what Waller wants—to avoid using forward guidance to interfere with the market. So, let’s just keep watching the data. Although I’m not too worried about oil’s trend, I did miss out on the best trading opportunity today because of being ‘lazy.’ When Iran attacked the U.S. military base in the Middle East this morning, I saw it immediately. Within about half an hour, both my WTI and Brent positions were highly profitable. During that time, I should have taken profits first and then looked for a better opportunity to re-enter. But even though I thought about it, I didn’t act. At the time, I figured such attacks are pretty routine and wouldn’t cause much volatility. However, after the attack, Iran openly admitted to it, and Trump’s response was to harshly punish Iran. This caused oil prices to rebound quickly, and I ended up losing money on my short position because I bet on Trump starting talks with Iran. That was a mistake. This isn’t the first time I’ve had a similar situation with oil. Although I’ve eventually gotten decent results in the past, I’ve missed better opportunities in between and ended up riding a few unnecessary roller coasters. I need to learn from this. Next time, my hands need to react as quickly as my brain. This rate decision didn’t have much impact on the market, but Bitcoin’s trend remains pretty stable. Today, I set up dual-currency orders at $63,000 and $63,500. My test account is at $63,000, expiring Friday, while my main account is at $63,500, expiring Thursday. Let’s see if I can catch anything.
