According to the *Financial Times*, Bank of New York Mellon (BNY), which oversees custody and management of assets exceeding $59 trillion, is set to launch a digital transfer agent service. This will migrate fund transaction processing and shareholder records onto blockchain while retaining the traditional transfer agent system. BNY's transfer agent business currently manages approximately $8.6 trillion in assets and 7.6 million accounts. Baillie Gifford will be the first to use this system for the UK’s first fully native regulated tokenized fund, while BlackRock and BNY’s Dreyfus are also expected to adopt it for upcoming funds.
