[Myanmar's New Law Allows Life Imprisonment for Perpetrators of Cryptocurrency Scams]
According to Foresight News, citing AFP, the Myanmar parliament passed a law on Tuesday stipulating that individuals operating online scam centers or engaging in 'digital currency scams (cryptocurrency scams)' can face a maximum sentence of life imprisonment, while those convicted of coercion can face 10 years to life imprisonment. Additionally, the law permits the death penalty for those who use violence or illegal detention to force others into participating in online scams.
