Golden Finance reported that on July 28, NVIDIA (NVDA.O) announced on Monday local time that its CEO Jensen Huang will travel to Washington to meet with lawmakers to discuss the United States' leadership in the field of artificial intelligence. A spokesperson for NVIDIA stated that Huang will hold talks with bipartisan leaders on Capitol Hill to discuss the latest developments in the technology, including the importance of maintaining a leading position in the open-source domain.
Huang is scheduled to meet with Senate Intelligence Committee's top Democrat, Mark Warner, on Tuesday. Last week, Warner expressed serious concerns about security threats following OpenAI's autonomous cyberattack incident. His office has confirmed the meeting arrangement.
This visit coincides with Huang's recent advocacy for open-source AI on social media platform X, where he posted that such models "can enhance security and cybersecurity, accelerate innovation and adoption, and achieve sovereignty."
Huang's visit also overlaps with the expected meeting of OpenAI founder Sam Altman with lawmakers in Washington. However, Warner's spokesperson clarified that the meetings with the two individuals are arranged separately.
