[Polymarket Account of UK Reform Party Leader's Aide Received $9 Million in Unexplained Funds] According to Protos, George Cottrell, an aide to UK Reform Party leader Nigel Farage, received two unexplained transfers totaling approximately $9 million in his Polymarket account. An investigation by the Financial Times revealed that Cottrell's Polymarket account (username GCottrell93) received around $8.8 million in October 2024—$7 million from an OKX exchange wallet and $1.83 million from a ChangeNOW wallet—and almost immediately used the funds to bet on Trump winning the U.S. presidential election, subsequently withdrawing approximately $13 million in profits. Cottrell was previously convicted in 2017 for wire fraud charges related to laundering proceeds from drug trafficking.
