Brazilian farm Fazenda Engenho Velho has completed the first officially registered tokenized livestock collateral financing transaction on B3 (Brazil Stock Exchange). The farm used 10 dairy cows as collateral to secure a CPR-F agricultural credit certificate worth 100,000 Brazilian Reais (approximately $19,400 USD). Each cow is equipped with a Cowmed AI smart collar that collects health, behavior, and location data, generating a unique encrypted digital ID linked to the loan contract, enabling digital management of collateral assets. This model aims to reduce valuation discounts and manual verification costs in traditional livestock collateral financing. Cowmed stated that its system currently covers around 100,000 cows in Brazil and other countries, with plans to tokenize approximately 20% of these livestock as collateral assets over the next two years.
