Germany has been abusing their trade and defense relationship with the USA for decades. Germany has a long history of not paying their NATO bills. They also have a history of unfair tariffs and trade restrictions protecting their markets. Germany wants free access to USA markets, but doesn’t want to provide the same level of access to their markets. Only due to pressure from Trump has this changed. Now the new battle is related to Pharma drug pricing. Germany is imposing artificial lower pricing so that their patients get huge discounts. This leaves the USA funding drug research and paying the highest prices in the world. We are effectively subsidizing countries like Germany. There is now a Section 301 trade investigation happening where the USA could impose trade sanctions on Germany.(Wall Street Mav)
