[Brent Crude Futures Surpass $100/Barrel for the First Time Since May] According to Golden Finance, on July 23, Brent crude oil futures rose to $100 per barrel, marking the first time in two months. Previously, Yemen's Houthi forces claimed responsibility for attacking two Saudi oil tankers navigating the Red Sea, escalating Middle East tensions and threatening further disruptions to oil supply. The Houthi attacks have opened a new front in regional conflicts. Prior to this, traffic in the Strait of Hormuz had already been strained due to U.S.-Iran tensions. Since the outbreak of the conflict, the Bab-el-Mandeb Strait in the Red Sea has become a critical lifeline for oil exports. Recently, both the U.S. and Iran have downplayed the possibility of peace talks, making the emergence of a prolonged adversarial situation a distinct possibility. (Jin10)
